NewsRegina Walker Shares Expertise in Bankruptcy Law for Bar Association PresentationPosted: June 09, 2011 Buffalo, NY -- Regina Walker, an attorney with Jeffrey Freedman Attorneys at Law, spoke on the practice of bankruptcy law at a recent program sponsored by the Asian American Bar Association of New York. Walker, who handles a high number of consumer bankruptcy filings, served on a panel of attorneys to provide attendees with updated information on the Bankruptcy Reform Act of 2005. The program qualified for MCLE credit and was open to all attorneys practicing in New York State. “A greater number of attorneys are being called upon to service bankruptcy law clients, so there is a need for them to be familiar with the issues that commonly arise,” Walker said. “And, in addition to the processes for filing Chapter 7 and Chapter 13, it’s important for attorneys in general practice to be familiar with their ethical obligations in bankruptcy cases.” Some of the issues the panel touched on were: property of the estate, discharge and dischargeability of debts, the automatic stay, the Chapter 13 means test, and the ethics of counsel for debtors and creditors in the context of the Bankruptcy Court. Walker has been practicing with Jeffrey Freedman Attorneys at Law and handling consumer bankruptcy filings for 15 years. Jeffrey Freedman Attorneys at Law, which has 15 offices in Western New York and Pennsylvania has handled bankruptcy, social security disability, and personal injury cases for more than 30 years. |
