Q. What age do I have to be to receive SSD benefits?

A. There is no minimum age, but you must meet SSA’s definition of disability and worked long enough recently to qualify for SSD.

Q. I got hurt in an automobile accident. I am disabled now, but I expect that I may be able to return to work after I recover, should I file for SSD?

A. Yes, if you expect to be out of work for 12 consecutive months due to your injuries.

Q. What is Social Security’s definition of Disability?

A. Generally, it is being unable to work because of a verifiable mental or physical impairment expected to result in death, or has lasted, or is expected to last, for at least 12 months.

Q. How do I replace my lost Social Security Card?

A. To get a replacement card you must complete and Application for a Social Security Card, provide SSA with documents proving your identity and U.S. citizenship and mail or take the documents to SSA. You must provide SSA with the original documents. It will take about 10 to 14 days to receive a replacement card.
