The United States Department of Veterans Affairs recently appointed a new chairwoman and four new members to the Advisory Committee on Women Veterans. The committee is an expert panel that advises the VA Secretary on programs and issues that are important to women veterans, caregivers, and their families.
VA Secretary David Shulkin recently stated: “As the VA continues to work toward modernization, the committee’s guidance will assist the department in meeting the important and evolving needs of women veterans. The new chairwoman and new appointees’ deep and broad perspectives are invaluable in anticipating these needs.”
The committee was established in 1983 and provides legislative and policy recommendations to the Secretary.
