On August 28, 2016, Ithaca College sophomore, Anthony Nazaire, attended a fraternity party at Omega Psi Phi on Cornell University’s campus during orientation week. After the party, a large fight broke out, and Mr. Nazaire was stabbed to death.
Mr. Nazaire’s mother, Katia Toussaint, has filed a lawsuit on behalf of her murdered son against Cornell and Omega Psi Phi, and she claims that inadequate security at the party contributed to her son’s death.
Nagee Green, a 24-year-old Upstate man, was convicted of the stabbing and sentenced to 20 years to life in prison in November 2017.
Joel M. Malina, Cornell Vice President for University Relations explained: “Anthony Nazaire and his family remain very much in the thoughts of the Cornell University community. As with all active litigation, we are not able to offer comment while the case is pending.”
